India-Armenia relations have grown significantly in recent years, driven primarily by Armenia's demand for defence equipment following the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh war in which it suffered serious military reverses against Azerbaijan. India has emerged as an important arms supplier to Armenia, providing Pinaka multiple rocket launch systems, ammunition and other military equipment. Beyond defence, both countries cooperate on connectivity, trade and development, and India has expressed interest in Armenia's potential as a transit corridor to Central Asia and Europe.

CURRENT STATE
Where things stand, 2026
The India-Armenia relationship has been transformed by Armenia's defence needs post-2020, with India emerging as a significant arms supplier. The defence dimension is now the most active pillar of the relationship. Trade is growing, connectivity discussions are underway, and cultural ties remain warm. Armenia's geopolitical situation - squeezed between Turkey, Azerbaijan, Russia and Iran - gives India's engagement strategic complexity but also strategic opportunity.
