CURRENT STATE

Where things stand, 2026

The India-Peru Strategic Partnership is in its early implementation phase. Critical minerals — copper and lithium — are the primary driver of elevated political engagement, with KABIL assessments of Peruvian sites underway. Pharmaceutical exports and fishmeal imports provide stable commercial channels. India's Pacific Alliance observer engagement, anchored partly through Peru, provides a regional Latin American policy framework. Tourism and people-to-people connections are growing. The relationship is expected to deepen further as India's EV manufacturing scale-up increases copper import requirements.
