India and Kenya share a robust, multi-faceted partnership rooted in centuries of Indian Ocean trade, a vibrant ~80,000-strong Indian diaspora, and modern cooperation across defence, pharmaceuticals, digital public infrastructure, and agriculture. India established a Nairobi commissioner's office in 1948. Kenya has been among India's most important African partners, with PM Modi's 2016 State Visit, President Ruto's 2023 State Visit, and a USD 250 million Line of Credit for agricultural modernisation as key recent milestones.

India-Kenya relations are in a period of active expansion. The USD 250 million agricultural LoC is the flagship current commitment. Digital cooperation — DigiLocker, Aadhaar-inspired digital governance, and ISRO space training — is the newest growth pillar. The India-Kenya Business Council is deepening private sector ties. Defence cooperation is developing through maritime and training channels. High-level political engagement remains frequent at ministerial level.
